The Toronto Stars

Ten Years and Rocking In Lacrosse

This year is the tenth season for the Toronto Stars Lacrosse Club. This year is the Stars tenth season offering lacrosse to boys and girls

The Stars lunch pail gang taking their game on the road to fight breast cancer. The 2009 novice All-Star team.

Congratulations !
Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse Association

For being the recipient for the award of the Promotion and Development Award for 2009.

Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse is a new club with a “NEW” logo; “NEW” jerseys and a “New” commitment to the development of players, volunteers and the Uxbridge club.
There has been a 60% growth in players, with 350+ this year from 220 last year. What is even more amazing, is that within the 350 players, 200 of those players are actually new to the association and within the 200, 100 of those players are of the peanut and paperweight age group so there is huge potential for future growth. The Board of Directors already have a target of 500 members for the 2010 season and possibly implement a Girls Program for the first time within their club.

Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse has a new President this year, Dieter Kirner and working with him are 17 Board members including 5 experienced Executive members: Laura Boire, VP Advisor and OLA Liason; Neil Wilkinson, VP Houseleague and Past President; Brad Morgan, VP Rep Teams; Deb Heyes, Treasurer; and Cathy Sangalli, Secretary. This Board has increased by 12 very dedicated and committed Directors that have worked very hard this season to provide an excellent program in both the House League and Representative divisions.

The House League Division was able to successfully run with 4 teams in every division from Tyke to Bantam. Plus, due to the huge increase in player growth, Peanut and Paperweight were able to operate with 4 teams in each division. Thanks to the added volunteer base, every division and area of need had volunteers to assist with the smooth running of all programs within House League.

The Representative Division made it their mission to have a Rep Team in every age division and to submit a C rating at the Preliminary Ratings. By Final Ratings, the Uxbridge teams represented the club extremely well with 3 teams (Bantam, Midget and Intermediate) in the C Divisions and even their Tyke Team surpassing expectations and competed well in the B Division. Their accomplishments throughout the season, brought pride to the Uxbridge club with the Tykes winning the NOTL and the Midland Tournaments; Midget Champions of the Stayner Tournament and both the Novices and Peewees bringing home the banners as Zone 6 Champions. This certainly proves with the dedication and commitment of the new and returning players; bench staff and parents, the Uxbridge club teams will continue to be a competitive force against other centers.

During this first season of this “NEW” direction for the Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse Association, they have certainly proved their ability to promote and develop lacrosse in the Uxbridge area.
